This poem is for my good friend Herb Braden on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
An Amish Birthday Party
A birthday celebration
May not seem that much
Unless of course you do it
With the Pennsylvania Dutch
Those Amish folks can party
Like it’s nineteen ninety-nine
Sometimes they get raucous
But usually they’re fine
And after all the hoopla
While having your last laughs
The Amish go from room to room
To seize all photographs
